In the old days, the right to education in our country was limited to a few special people, but due to the gradual change, education started reaching every class and the doors of education also opened. But unfortunately, there is still such a lack of education in the border areas of our country that there is no limit to what can be said. Children from border villages have to go to distant cities to get education and the main reason for this is the shortage of teachers and the poor atmosphere in schools. Year after year, instead of continuously rising, the standard of education in border areas is falling, which is having a direct impact on children for which successive governments also bear significant responsibility, which kept making many promises and claims, but in reality they did nothing.

Today, despite many national concerns, education in border areas remains a pressing and unresolved issue. There is a concern in the border areas that how will education reach the children? The government is also trying and so are the social service organizations, but is education reaching the border areas in a good way? This is a big question. Because on the one hand, we talk about going to the moon and on the other hand, the situation on the ground is such that it is pitiful to see that even decades after independence, our children are not getting good education. The biggest problem here is that there is a shortage of teachers.
Reason for the shortage of teachers

Let us tell you that there was a time when teachers used to say that we should be assigned to duty in the border areas and we will go there and teach the children and make them great officers, but now the situation has become such that even the teachers and employees do not want them to go to the border areas and teach. Of course, they have some compulsions of their own, but the reality is that most teachers are reluctant to be assigned to duty in the border areas. The main reason for this is also believed to be that the promises made by the government to the teachers regarding the allowances for the border areas are not fulfilled on time, due to which many teachers get transferred from the schools.
Even now, there are large number of vacant posts of teachers in the border districts of Punjab, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka. Although the government had claimed this year itself that there is a huge shortage of teachers in rural and backward areas, especially in the border districts, to fulfill which teachers will be deployed by them. After the government’s statement, temporary duties were given to teachers on a large scale, but those teachers returned to their respective areas after some time. The teachers are also forced, they say that they have to go to schools after facing huge problems, the government does not help them to solve the problems of these villages which they bring to the government.
According to Dimple, a former headmaster of a government middle school, the schools offer education to children from class 6 to class 12, in addition to arts, vocational and science, other courses are also offered. But for the past many years, there has been a severe shortage of teachers. The future of the children studying in these schools, which are struggling with a severe shortage of teachers, is in danger.
Floods have stopped education

This time, the floods in Punjab not only destroyed the crops of lakhs of acres of farmers, but on the other hand, this flood has also put a big stop to education. Due to the floods, schools remained closed for about two months, schools were flooded and due to these floods, many teachers were temporarily reassigned or unable to continue duties due to flood-related disruptions. Even after about four months of the floods, the condition of the schools has not improved.
The youth have gone astray due to lack of good education!

If we are to believe the border farmers, since the country became independent, every government that has ruled the state has claimed that the condition of hospitals and schools in the border area will be improved. Although some governments have also paid attention to this, the reality is that even after 78 years of independence, there is a shortage of teachers in many schools, apart from this, the school buildings are not good and along with this, no teacher is happy to come here. From time to time, the government has been making claims of providing better facilities to schools.
While the border farmers are troubled by their problems, on the other hand, the children of farmers and laborers also seem to be troubled due to the bad policies of the governments. Due to inadequate education and opportunities, many young people become vulnerable to negative influences and they start doing such bad things due to which, apart from them and their parents, the name of the area also becomes infamous.
Punjabis have contributed significantly both in national defense and agriculture, but they are lacking in education..!

If you look at it, be it the battlefield or the country’s food, Punjabis have been fighting and are fighting in every work. Punjabis have always had the same goal that they come forward to help others, but has anyone ever thought that who comes forward to help Punjabis? Although claims and promises have been made from time to time that we help Punjabis, governments also make claims and other parties also, apart from this, outside parties also, but who helps, no one. Punjabis have stood on their own feet and fought in the front.
Providing education in border areas is a great need of the hour – Governor Kataria

Governor of Punjab Gulab Chand Kataria had visited the border areas some time ago. While addressing the people in Bhikhiwind of Tarn Taran, he had admitted that there is still a huge shortage of education in the border areas, due to which many boys and girls are not able to get a good education. He had said that the need of the hour is to build schools and colleges in these border areas so that the children living here can also get good education. Governor Kataria had also talked about strengthening the infrastructure in the border areas so that the people of these areas can get modern and quality education, employment, clean drinking water and other health facilities in a better manner on a priority basis, in addition to roads and transportation facilities. Well, so far the governments have made many claims and promises, but let’s see how far education reaches in the border areas? Otherwise, without education, the future of children is in danger.
There is a need…

There is a need for governments to encourage teachers, increase their salaries or take whatever steps the government deems appropriate to encourage them, so that at least the teachers in the vicinity can fill this gap by taking their duties at will.
