When the colors, languages, and cultures of different places come together, it doesn’t just create a program—it creates a new kind of experience. Under the “MY Bharat Program,” the Kashmir Youth Exchange Program became exactly that, where young people from the valleys of Kashmir felt a deep sense of belonging in the soil of Punjab.
Held from March 24 to March 29, this six-day journey was not limited to sightseeing; it was a meaningful opportunity to learn, understand, and connect. Around 120 young participants (aged 18–25) from districts like Srinagar, Pulwama, and Anantnag arrived in Punjab carrying dreams, curiosity, and a desire to explore something new. They were accompanied by 12 team leaders.
Each day brought a new story. At times, they were immersed in the unique artistry of Chandigarh’s Rock Garden; at others, they found moments of peace by the banks of Sukhna Lake. They got a glimpse of history at places like Fateh Burj and Gurdwara Chappar Chiri, where bravery and devotion come together.

But the journey extended beyond tourist attractions. A visit to the Verka Milk Plant in Mohali offered a different kind of exposure. Here, they observed how milk is processed, how hygiene and packaging are maintained, and how it reaches households.
The real strength of the program was the bond that formed between people. Kashmiri youth tried learning Punjabi, while locals also picked up a few Kashmiri words. The final day was especially memorable. At NIPER Mohali, an exhibition showcased Kashmiri attire, cuisine, and handicrafts. Visitors not only purchased items but also experienced Kashmiri culture up close.
This was followed by a cultural program where Kashmiri youth performed to Hindi songs, and the girls won hearts by performing Punjabi Giddha.
The most beautiful aspect of this entire experience was that it didn’t feel like just a government initiative—it became a platform where India’s diversity transformed into unity. The youth from Kashmir didn’t just see places in Punjab; they didn’t just visit places – they built lasting relationships.
What is MY Bharat?

India stands at a crucial stage in its development journey, with 65% of its population under the age of 35 and the vision of a “Developed India by 2047.” In this context, “Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat)” has emerged as a historic initiative by the Government of India—a national platform designed to empower youth and channel their energy into nation-building.
Launched on October 31, 2023, on the occasion of National Unity Day (birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel), MY Bharat represents a dynamic blend of technology, governance, and public participation. It operates as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and provides a technology-driven institutional framework.
The platform connects young citizens with opportunities for volunteering, experiential learning, leadership, and skill development.
Through this platform, youth can explore and participate in initiatives by government departments, private organizations, and civil society partners. These initiatives address real-world challenges in areas such as:
• health
• education
• environment
• innovation
• entrepreneurship
• social inclusion
Aligned with the National Youth Policy, the initiative primarily targets individuals aged 15–29, while also nurturing adolescents aged 10–19 to build early civic awareness and participation.

This initiative marks a shift from isolated youth programs to an integrated digital ecosystem, where aspirations meet opportunities. It creates pathways for participation at local, state, and national levels, and recognizes contributions through verified digital certificates, enhancing employability and civic pride.
With MY Bharat, youth can create a digital profile or CV, which can support future opportunities such as scholarships, jobs, and higher education.
It serves as a central platform for participation in programs like:
• NSS (National Service Scheme)
• NYKS (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan)
• school and college volunteering
• rural development initiatives
• cleanliness drives
• health and awareness campaigns
The platform is accessible through mobile apps and web portals, with support for multiple Indian languages, ensuring inclusivity across regions.
At its core, MY Bharat reflects the spirit of “Jan Bhagidari through Youth Power”—the belief that India’s progress becomes truly powerful when its youth actively participate as responsible, engaged, and thoughtful citizens.
