The land of Hoshiarpur has long produced individuals who have brought pride to Punjab through their hard work and determination. Now, another name has been added to that list — Rajan Chaudhary. The young athlete from Sri Guru Ravidas Nagar in Hoshiarpur has won a gold medal at the “All India Open Kickboxing International Cup” held in Delhi, bringing immense pride not only to his parents but also to the entire district and the state.
Rajan Shines on the International Stage

The 5th International Kickboxing Championship, held in Delhi from February 4 to 8, saw participation from approximately 2,500 athletes from nearly 20 countries participated. Securing a place in such a high-level competition was no easy feat. Rajan Chaudhary competed in the 91 kg weight category in the “Low Kick” event and defeated his opponents with outstanding technique and skill to claim victory. His victory proves that strong determination can turn distant goals into achievable milestones.
From Struggle to Success

Rajan’s success did not come overnight. He has been consistently associated with the sport since 2014–15. Speaking about his victory, Rajan shared that over the past few years, awareness about kickboxing in India has increased significantly, and facilities have also improved. He believes that if an athlete receives the right guidance and support at the right time, they can succeed at any level.
Call for Better Sports Support in Punjab
While celebrating his remarkable win, Rajan also urged improvements in Punjab’s sports infrastructure. He stated that there is no shortage of talent among Punjab’s youth; what they need is stronger government support. Referring to Haryana’s sports policy as an example, he emphasized that if athletes in Punjab receive job security and financial assistance, they can elevate the state’s name on global platforms. According to him, if the government ensures a secure future for players, they can compete internationally without the burden of financial stress.
A Father’s Unwavering Faith
Rajan credits much of his achievement to his father’s unwavering support. His father emotionally shared that despite the lack of government assistance in the early stages, he cut household expenses to support Rajan’s training and competitions. Today, seeing his son’s hard work shine in the form of a gold medal fills him with immense pride.
Rajan Chaudhary’s victory serves as an inspiration for many young athletes in Hoshiarpur and beyond. This gold medal is not just a piece of metal; it represents ten years of relentless dedication and hard work. It is hoped that policymakers and the administration will respond to such voices and strengthen Punjab’s sports ecosystem, enabling more athletes to represent India on global platforms.
