Pride of Sikh Youth in UPSC: SGPC Announces ₹1 Lakh Award 

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the most challenging competitive exams in the country. This year, Sikh students have brought pride to the entire community through their hard work and merit by achieving success in the examination. Recognizing this historic achievement, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken an important step to encourage successful Sikh candidates, which will serve as an inspiration for the younger generation.

The President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, issued a press statement announcing that Sikh candidates who have successfully cleared the UPSC examination and have been selected for the higher administrative services (IAS/IPS) will be honoured with a cash award of ₹1 lakh by the SGPC.

Advocate Dhami stated that this reward is not merely a financial amount but a tribute to the determination and hard work of these young achievers.

In this year’s results, several Sikh candidates secured impressive ranks. Advocate Dhami specially congratulated Simrandeep Kaur, Sunwardeep Singh, and other successful Sikh candidates.

Notably, Simrandeep Kaur secured the 15th rank at the national level, bringing great recognition to the Sikh community.

Advocate Dhami proudly mentioned that Simrandeep Kaur was a student of Khalsa College, Patiala, which operates under the management of the SGPC. This reflects that Sikh educational institutions are providing strong support to students in achieving excellence in the academic field. 

A Matter of Pride for the Sikh Community

Advocate Dhami stated that achieving success in a difficult examination like the UPSC is a reflection of the tireless efforts of young candidates. He further said that while these students have brought honour to their parents, their achievements are also a source of pride and joy for the Sikh community.

The increasing participation of Sikh youth in administrative services indicates a bright future for the community. 

SGPC’s Efforts to Encourage Competitive Examinations

The Shiromani Committee is not limited only to religious activities; it is also actively working to encourage Sikh youth to participate in competitive examinations.

The SGPC President said that the institution wants Sikh youth to serve the nation and the community by occupying important positions in the country’s administrative system. This financial recognition will also motivate other young aspirants to participate in such challenging examinations.
