An atmosphere of happiness and enthusiasm was seen in Balad Kalan village of Sangrur district, when the promising youth of the village, Dr. Jaspal Singh reached the village for the first time after attaining the rank of Lieutenant in the Indian Army. Due to his hard work and patriotic feelings, Dr. Jaspal Singh has brought glory not only to his family but also to the entire area. His achievement was given a grand welcome by the villagers with drums and laddus.
Warm and wonderful welcome on reaching the village

After completing three months of rigorous military training, when Lieutenant Jaspal Singh reached the village bus stand wearing his uniform, the entire village gathered to welcome him. A special march was taken out from the village bus stand to his house, in which happiness was expressed by beating drums. The villagers and business relatives welcomed him with flower garlands and congratulated him for this glorious achievement. The laddus distributed in the streets of the village made the atmosphere of this celebration even more special.
Journey from Assistant Professor to the rank of Lieutenant
The achievement of Lieutenant Jaspal Singh is also special because he is currently serving as Assistant Professor at “Desh Bhagat College, Birdwal” (Dhuri). He told that the Government of India had sent him to Kamptee, Maharashtra for three months of special NCC training. This training conducted in the Comti cantonment area is very rigorous, which is exactly equivalent to the training of an army officer. Dr. Jaspal successfully completed this training in his very first attempt, after which he was awarded the rank of Lieutenant.
Future goal: To prepare youth for the army
Talking about his success, Lieutenant Jaspal Singh said that now his responsibilities have increased even more. Their main objective will be to motivate and train college students and village youth for officer level jobs in the Indian Army. Along with this, Lieutenant Jaspal while addressing the youth said that it is a very proud thing to join the army to serve the country. He also appealed to the young generation to actively participate in military recruitment to strengthen the borders of the country.
Wave of pride among villagers

The villagers praised the hard work of Lieutenant Jaspal Singh and said that only such youth become the beacon of light for the society. This achievement of Jaspal Singh has brought glory to the name of village Balad Kalan not only in Sangrur district but in the entire Punjab. There is still a wave of happiness in the village and everyone is feeling proud of the success of this young lieutenant. This success will become a big inspiration for the coming generations.
