Twenty-six-year-old Kritika Chaudhary from Mohali has made Punjab proud by securing 312th rank in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination, one of the country’s most prestigious examinations. Kritika, originally from Balachaur in Nawanshahr district, has brought pride to both Punjab and the Gujjar community, through her remarkable achievement. Her success has sparked celebrations among her family and across the city. In recognition of her achievement, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also honour her at a special ceremony in Ludhiana.
Family Background and Inspiration
Kritika’s father, Rajeev Kumar Gujjar, serves as an Inspector in the Punjab Police. Her family has always emphasized education and discipline, which helped her stay focused on her goals. Kritika shared that until now, no child from her community had achieved success at such a high level.
She believes that the UPSC is not just an examination but also a mental challenge, and the most important step is preparing one’s mind for it. She felt that since God had given her the opportunity to study in good schools and colleges, she should work hard and step forward to serve society.
Interest in Education and Mental Health
Kritika Chaudhary studied psychology and has a deep interest in the field of education. Several of her research papers have also been published in international journals. She stated that she chose the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as her first preference because it offers opportunities to work across multiple departments and sectors.
Alongside this, Kritika has a strong interest in the field of mental health and hopes to contribute to the health sector as well during her career.
Coaching Experience and Advice for Aspirants
During the initial phase of her preparation, Kritika enrolled in a coaching institute in Chandigarh, but her experience there was not positive. After that, with the support of her mother, she moved to Delhi to continue her preparation, where she finally received proper guidance.
While offering advice to future aspirants, she said that even if candidates wish to prepare while staying in their own village or city, they should consider online coaching. Nowadays many good institutes offer online coaching at affordable fees. She also warned students not to get trapped in institutes that focus more on showmanship than real teaching.
Determination to Serve Society
Speaking about her future plans, Kritika made it clear that whatever responsibility the government assigns to her, she will carry it out with complete honesty and dedication. Her primary focus will be improving education, healthcare services, and especially women’s empowerment.
Kritika wants to remain committed to her core values and become a voice for underprivileged sections of society. Today, in the streets of Mohali, people are proudly citing this daughter’s hard work as an inspiring example.
