Two doctors from Mansa district in Punjab — Dr. Subodh Gupta and his son Dr. Nishant Gupta — are set to have their names recorded in the globally renowned Guinness World Records. They have achieved this milestone through a unique initiative related to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the medical field.
Both doctors participated in a special academic program being organized by the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi. This program, held for the first time in the country, focuses on understanding the role, possibilities, and limitations of AI in medical science. The event is being conducted over a span of 20 weeks and includes selected doctors and researchers from across India.
Discussions during the program also explored the situations where AI can effectively assist in medical treatment and where reliance on it may not be appropriate. Dr. Subodh Gupta shared that detailed insights were provided regarding the reliability of AI-based treatments and their impact on health. According to him, selected doctors and medical researchers from Delhi, Punjab, Kerala, West Bengal, and Maharashtra participated in this exchange of ideas.
Dr. Subodh Gupta, a pediatric specialist who has also served as a Civil Surgeon in the health department, stated that AI has the potential to bring a major transformation in the medical field. “This is an era of rapid change, and new technologies are finding their place in healthcare as well. AI can make possible many things that were once considered impossible,” he said. He also added that serious discussions were held on the limitations of AI to ensure that doctors use this technology responsibly.
Dr. Nishant Gupta, a dermatologist at Civil Hospital Mansa, said that such programs open new directions for doctors. “We are not here just to learn, but also to understand the future of the medical system. AI is not just a supportive tool; it represents a new way of thinking,” he remarked.
Participants in the program have been awarded special certificates, and upon completion, they will also undergo an assessment. This process is designed to evaluate both their understanding and practical application of the subject.
The most notable aspect is that, as a father-son duo contributing to the field of AI in medicine, their names will be recorded in the Guinness World Records. This achievement is not only a matter of pride for them but also for Mansa and Punjab.
This recognition is expected to benefit the medical field while also giving a fresh direction and energy to Punjab’s healthcare sector. It will encourage the adoption of new technologies and inspire other doctors to move towards innovation.
