In today’s times, when many people are focused on personal advancement and accumulating property, an inspiring example has emerged from the village of Bullewal near Batala that redefines humanity and love for one’s homeland. A former resident of the village and NRI, Sahib Bullewal, has invested his hard-earned income in the development of his native village. His dedication has transformed the village into a place that now appears even more beautiful than many modern towns.
Transformation of the Village and New Facilities

Thanks to the efforts of the NRI benefactor, the appearance of Bullewal village has changed completely. A beautifully designed park has been developed in the village, which has become a major attraction for residents. Around 100 chairs have been placed across the village streets so that elderly residents can sit and relax.
In addition, numbered street signboards, streetlights, and playground swings for children have been installed. These developments have helped transform Bullewal into what many now consider a model village.
Views of Village Resident Rishpal Singh

Village resident Rishpal Singh praised Sahib’s efforts and said that instead of building personal properties, Sahib considered the beautification of the village to be his true “property.” According to Rishpal Singh, countless fruit-bearing and ornamental plants have been planted throughout the village. Even the trees have been painted and maintained, adding to the village’s charm.
Sahib has reportedly spent more than ₹1 crore on the village’s development. As a result, the village landscape has become so picturesque that people now travel from distant places to conduct pre-wedding shoots and photography here.
In the Words of Mangal Singh

Another resident, Mangal Singh, said that the village now looks so impressive that even when villagers visit big cities like Chandigarh, they feel a strong urge to return home quickly. He also mentioned that the surroundings near the sacred place of Baba Hazara Singh Ji have been beautifully developed.
Environmental care is given special attention in the village. If a plant dries up, a new one is planted immediately in its place. According to Mangal Singh, every country and every village should have a person like Sahib who can contribute so significantly to the development of his homeland.
Religious Devotion

Alongside development work, the village of Bullewal also shows great enthusiasm for religious activities. On 3 March, villagers made enthusiastic preparations to welcome a religious procession (jatha) passing through the village on its way to Dera Baba Nanak for the darshan of Chola Sahib at Dera Baba Nanak.

Today, Bullewal has become a guiding example for Non-Resident Indians who wish to stay connected with their roots. Sahib’s continued service proves that with determination and commitment, a single individual can transform the future of an entire community.
Today, Bullewal is not just a village, but a beautiful blend of environmental conservation and modern rural development.
