Damdami Taksal Yatra to Travel Across Majha Villages from 1 May to 31 May; “Ghallughara Diwas” to Be Observed on 6 June 

In memory of those who died during the events of June 1984, Damdami Taksal has announced its annual observance of the Third Ghallughara martyrdom commemoration on a large scale.

According to the organisers, the commemorative programmes began on 1 May and will continue throughout the month. As part of this outreach, daily religious gatherings and congregations are being organised across villages and towns of the Majha region, including Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran.

The programmes are being led by Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, who is addressing gatherings and delivering religious discourses in different locations.

Speaking about the purpose of the yatra and the commemorative events, the Taksal leadership said that its headquarters are located at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash.

According to the organisers, this historic centre in the Majha region has served as the institution’s headquarters across several generations of leadership and has remained active in Sikh religious education and outreach.

They stated that the month-long journey aims to carry the teachings of the Sikh Gurus to households and encourage younger generations to engage with Gurbani and Gurmat principles while strengthening awareness of Sikh heritage.

Referring to the events of June 1984, the organisers described the period between 1 and 10 June as one of deep historical and emotional significance for the Sikh community.

During the observances, remembrance is being centred on those who lost their lives during the military action at Sri Harmandir Sahib and Akal Takht.

Shahidi Ghallughara Week: 1 June to 6 June

Shaheed Ghallughara Week from June 1 to 6

Following the village-level events, “Shahidi Ghallughara Week” is scheduled to be observed from 1 June to 6 June at Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash.

Separate observances are also planned on 6 June in Gaggarbhana.

According to organisers, attendance begins increasing from 1 June onward, with daily participation running into thousands and larger gatherings expected for the main event on 6 June. Activities include kirtan, katha, and volunteer service.

The organisation has appealed to the Sikh community and visitors to participate in the commemorative events.
