History of Gurdwara Sahibs Located in West Punjab

Gurdwara Mal Ji Sahib, Kanganpur

The historic Gurdwara Mal Ji Sahib, Kanganpur is located in Kanganpur village in Kasur district of Pakistan. This gurdwara was established in memory of the sacred visit of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji. Before 1947, the service and maintenance of this gurdwara were carried out by Namdhari Sikhs. After Partition, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has not been installed here.

Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Manak Deke

There is a village called Manak Deke in Kasur district of Pakistan. This village is two kilometres away from Kanganpur. When the people of Kanganpur did not give Guru Sahib a place in their village, he left from there and came to the village of Manak Deke, where the local people received him with great respect.

In sacred memory of Guru Sahib’s visit, Gurdwara Manji Sahib is situated just outside the village.

Gurdwara Chhota Nankiana Sahib, Hujra Shah Muqim

This sacred place is situated on the road from Hujra Shah Muqim city to Boga Awan in Okara district of Pakistan. Guru Nanak Sahib travelled here from Manak Deke and stayed at this place.

This site is remembered as Gurdwara Chhota Nankiana Sahib. Apart from 10 acres of land in this village, land from many other villages is also attached to this sacred place. At present, only one well and one banyan tree of this historic site can be seen.

Gurdwara Chhota Nankiana Sahib, Depalpur

The village of Depalpur is located in Okara district of Pakistan. On the south-eastern outskirts of the village is the sacred place of Guru Nanak Sahib known as Chhota Nankiana Sahib.

Guru Sahib came here and stayed under a dry peepal tree, which became green. This peepal tree still exists today. It was here that Guru Sahib cured a leper named Noori (Nauranga).

Twenty-five acres of land in the name of this gurdwara were given by the Singhs of village Mancharian, and one acre of land is situated outside the city. A large amount of other estate is also attached to the gurdwara. At present, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not installed here.

Gurdwara Pehli Patshahi, Pakpattan

Gurdwara Pehli Patshahi, Pakpattan is located in a village called Kharait in Pakpattan tehsil of Sahiwal district in Pakistan.

Guru Nanak Sahib came to this village during one of his preaching journeys. A gurdwara was built in Guru Sahib’s memory at the place where he stayed.

After 1947, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has not been installed here, and the gurdwara remains closed.
