A new chapter has been added to the sports administration of Punjab Police. Punjab Police officer Gurmeet Kaur, who has represented India at the international level, assumed the additional charge of Sports Secretary of Punjab Police on September 3, 2026, at the Central Sports Office located at the PAP Headquarters, Jalandhar. She has become the first female police officer in Punjab Police to reach this position.

Belonging to the village of Butahari in Ludhiana district, Gurmeet Kaur started playing football right from her school days. During 2002-03, she held the distinction of being the first female SHO in Ludhiana city. In 2024, she was also posted as ADCP Headquarters in the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate.

In August 2026, Gurmeet Kaur was promoted to the rank of SP and appointed Commandant of the 27th Battalion PAP, Jalandhar. Prior to this, she was posted as SP PBI in Kapurthala.
