Stories born from the soil of Punjab often carry the fragrance of resilience, where challenges are transformed into opportunities. Today, Punjab is known not only for its agriculture but also for the determination and passion of its daughters. This is the inspiring story of Rajwinder Kaur, whose dedication has shaped her identity. Her journey proves that with true determination, even obstacles can become stepping stones to success.
From a Childhood Hobby to a Business Journey

Rajwinder Kaur had a passion for learning and creating new things from an early age. She says that learning new skills has always been part of her personality. Whenever she got an opportunity to receive training, she would eagerly take it. The foundation of her journey was laid even before her marriage.
Watching her mother sew clothes inspired her interest in stitching and embroidery. In her mother’s absence, she would secretly try cutting and stitching clothes herself. Although she made many mistakes in the beginning, she never gave up. By learning from those mistakes, she gradually mastered not only stitching clothes but also skills such as making teddy bears and other handmade items. Today, that childhood interest has become the foundation of her business.
Creating Quality Products from Waste Fabric
Rajwinder began her entrepreneurial journey by opening a boutique. However, her aim was not limited to stitching suits. She closely observed the shortcomings of products available in the market.
She noticed that many bags and organizers sold in the market were lightweight and their zippers often broke quickly. This observation inspired her to try something different.
She started using waste fabric available at home to create durable and useful items. She produced bags, tiffin covers, and organizers that were not only attractive but also stronger and more reliable than many market products. Her products stood out because she used strong fabric, quality zippers, and durable locks, which gradually increased their demand among customers.
Lockdown and a New Beginning

When the world came to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, Rajwinder’s boutique work also stopped. While many people felt discouraged during this difficult period, Rajwinder saw it as an opportunity.
She realized that even when everything shuts down, food-related work always continues. With this thought, she stepped into the professional cooking space.
The hands that once worked with needle and thread began preparing delicious pinnis and biscuits. She started making flaxseed pinnis, sesame pinnis, bakery items, and even Gujarati snacks like fafda.
Health and Purity: The Guarantee of Homemade Taste

The biggest reason behind the success of Rajwinder’s food products is their quality and purity.
In her flaxseed pinnis, she uses generous quantities of dry fruits such as cashews, almonds, and melon seeds. Notably, she keeps the amount of ghee relatively low so that people with blood pressure or other health concerns can also enjoy them.
She believes that sweets sold in large shops are not always freshly prepared. In contrast, she works on a small scale and prepares everything fresh. Clean utensils, hygiene, and careful preparation are her top priorities. This commitment has earned her strong trust among customers.
Self-Help Group: A Path to Women’s Economic Independence

Rajwinder not only developed her own business but also encouraged other women to join her journey.
Under a Central Government scheme, she formed a Self-Help Group (SHG) of 10 women. The goal of this group was to build a sustainable business through small savings.
She explains how each member contributed ₹100 per month, and through this collective effort they were able to access government support funds. Rajwinder herself started her work with just ₹3,000. As the business generated profits, she reinvested the money to expand it further.
Seasonal Business Strategy

Like a successful entrepreneur, Rajwinder understands market demand and seasonal trends very well.
Her business model is flexible. During winter, when the demand for pinnis and bakery items increases, she focuses more on food products.
In summer, she dedicates more time to sewing, embroidery, and boutique work. During the summer season, she also prepares pickles, chutneys, and dishes like dahi bhalla.
Understanding the pulse of the market and adapting accordingly has been one of the key reasons behind her success.
Social Message: The Importance of Family Support
At the end of her journey, Rajwinder shares an important social message.
She says that even today there are families where women want to work but do not receive support from their families or male members.
Rajwinder believes that in today’s era of rising expenses, both men and women should contribute economically. Families should understand that a skilled woman can become a pillar of support for the household during difficult times.
Her dream was that her identity should be recognized not merely by her name but by her work. Today, she feels that she is living that dream.
Rajwinder’s story is not only a tale of business success but also a story of perseverance and determination. She has shown that one can bloom in every season and turn challenges into steps toward success. Today, Rajwinder Kaur stands as an inspiration for every daughter of Punjab who wishes to transform her dreams into reality.
